Hypnosa                                                          Zone 7b-10

Alocasia Hypnosa sometimes called "Maechang" is a very easy alocasia to grow and propagate.  This plant sends of runners to produce new baby plants.  A feature not very common in alocasia's.  Matter of fact I do not know of any other alocasia that does this, much more common on colocasia's.  But none the less a very easy ee to grow.

Hypnosa also has a true dormancy period which you will not find in many alocasia's.  Meaning the leafs die down in the fall/winter on their own even if grown in a greenhouse and become dormant for the winter.    If I had to guess I would say this species of alocasia was crossed with a colocasia.  Whatever created it I'm very glad they did.  Mine tend to flower every other year.
