Alocasia Macrorrhiza                                                  Zone 8-10
 
 
 
Alocasia Macrorrhiza can be spelled two ways:
  • Macrorrhiza
  • Macrorrhizos

 

I have chose to call mine by Macrorrhiza and not Macrorrhizos but that is a decision that was made simply by looking over the internet and seeing what was most common.  I would love for someone to email me with their reason or facts to what the name should be.

 

There are several versions of this plant:

  • Common Green
  • Borneo Giant
  • Variegata
  • Shock Treatment
  • Big Mac
  • Dark Stem

 

All are very nice to have in your collection and most are said to be cold hardy to 7b.  I live in 7b and plant to leave a few out this year.  I'll update everyone next spring.

 

 

 

 

                      

     Check out this beauty below.  This is a the Variegata version.  I received this picture from a lady named Gina Roper from Florida.  This ee I'm told is around 6 feet tall.  Look at the leaves and you can quickly understand how everyone would love this plant in their backyard.
