Amazonica 'Polly'                                                        Zone 9-10

Polly is a version of Amazonica that is much smaller in height.  Most Polly's don't get taller than a foot or so.  Can be a little more difficult to keep growing than the average Alocasia.  As you can see from the picture they are well worth it if you can figure out what they need.  With more sun the leaves loose some of the green and turn more black.  Keep in mind if this plant does go dormant on you just cut back on the watering and wait.......  She will pop back up for you someday.  As long as the tuber doesn't get mushy than your ok.  When mine go dormant I cut watering back to once a month or every other month.

I would not recommend planting this one in the ground.  I would keep it in a clay pot.  I recommend the clay pot being they release water faster which in turn helps keep the plant from rotting.  I would also let the soil dry out a bit before watering again.  At that point water well but do not let it sit in water.
