Alocasia 'Calidora'                                                       Zone 7b-10

Alocasia Calidora is one of LariAnn Garner's from Aroidia Research first crosses.  I might be wrong but I believe back in the early 80's.  Calidora can be seen in landscapes all over the country.  They are very hardy down to 7b with protection.

Calidora was a cross between Alocasia Odora and Alocasia Gageana.  It gets the agressive growth trait from Odora.  A very easy to grow Alocasia.  Great for people new to Alocasia's.  Not as picky as some Alocasia's.  Can grow in Full sun or part sun.  Here in Birmingham I prefer to grow mine in full sun.

If you live in Zone 7b and up you can leave in the ground over winter.  Just make sure to mulch good.  Calidora can also be stored indoors very easy in the dormant state.
