USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map
North America was divided into "zones" to with regards to plant hardiness. One being the coldest zone all the way up to eleven being down right hot.
What does this means to you?
To break it down for everyone looking at this map, the zones refer to what you can plant in your area. Some plants you will be able to get by if your close to the suggested zone with lots of mulch in the late fall. Within a zone or so. Other plants must be in the exact zone as labeled to be happy. The tricky part about he zones are that they refer to average expected low time temperatures not including things such as humidity, average rainfall, wind, or summer time heat. All of these factors are important in the plants overall health.
